Information you choose to provide
CMCVS may collect information submitted through veteran-assistance, contact, partnership, volunteer, and newsletter forms. Depending on the form, this can include your name, email, phone number, military or veteran status, branch, county or location, preferred contact method, organization, area of interest, and the message you write.
Do not submit Social Security numbers, VA claim numbers, medical records, banking information, passwords, copies of identification, or other sensitive documents through a general website form. Secure document upload is not active.
How information is used
CMCVS uses submitted information to review and route requests, respond to inquiries, evaluate potential partnerships or volunteer interest, maintain subscription preferences, improve resource navigation, protect forms from abuse, and support lawful organizational administration.
Newsletter interest and confirmation
The current newsletter form saves your email and your request to hear about signup when email updates launch. It does not send a confirmation or welcome email. Existing interest records are not treated as confirmed Brevo subscriptions. Assistance, volunteer, donation, and phone inquiries are separate from newsletter consent.
CMCVS is preparing a Brevo signup flow. Once activated, that form will send a confirmation link, and only a confirmed signup will join the newsletter audience. Each newsletter will include an unsubscribe link. Until then, use the contact form to withdraw a newsletter-interest request. We will update this notice when that service goes live.
A dismissed newsletter popup stores only a dismissal timestamp on your device for a seven-day cooldown. It does not store your email there. Manual signup remains available. If browser storage is unavailable, dismissal lasts for the current page session.
Crisis support and calls
CMCVS.org provides links to the Veterans Crisis Line, an external service. CMCVS does not operate a crisis line or an AI crisis counselor. Do not use general forms or newsletter requests for emergencies. Any future phone assistant will need its own disclosure before collecting or recording calls.
Donor privacy
CMCVS does not sell, rent, or trade donor contact information. When online giving is activated, payment information will be entered through the selected payment processor rather than stored by CMCVS.org. CMCVS may retain donor contact, gift, acknowledgment, and compliance records as needed for receipts, accounting, legal obligations, and donor-requested communication.
Sharing and service providers
CMCVS may share the minimum information reasonably necessary with staff, authorized volunteers, contractors, hosting or technology providers, or an appropriate referral resource to operate the website and respond to a request. CMCVS may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect safety, rights, or the integrity of its systems.
Submitting an assistance request does not authorize CMCVS to send sensitive records broadly. Any future case-management, document-upload, or referral-consent workflow will require separate safeguards and notices.
Security and spam prevention
The site validates submissions, limits form size and frequency, checks submission origin, and uses automated spam-detection fields. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so CMCVS limits what its public forms ask people to submit.
Retention
CMCVS retains form and subscription records only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, operational continuity, dispute resolution, safety, accounting, or legal requirements. Retention rules should be updated when formal case-management and records schedules are adopted.
Analytics, cookies, and future tools
The site is prepared for analytics but does not describe an analytics provider that has not been configured. If CMCVS later activates analytics, advertising, appointment scheduling, a client portal, or another tool that changes data practices, this notice should be updated before or when that feature launches.
Your choices
You may ask CMCVS to correct contact information, stop nonessential communications, unsubscribe from newsletters, or review a privacy concern through the contact form. Legal or operational requirements may limit deletion of certain records.
Children
CMCVS.org is not directed to children under 13. A parent or legal guardian should submit requests involving a minor and avoid unnecessary sensitive details.
External resources
The Veteran Resource Center links to government and third-party websites. Their privacy practices control information you provide on their sites.
Contact
Send privacy or donor-privacy questions through the CMCVS contact form and select “General inquiry” or “Donations.” A public privacy email can be added after it is approved.
